Most children in the UK have to go through the same process at one point or another – applying and preparing to go to their secondary education school. It can be a scary and seemingly complicated process. And in the London borough of Tower Hamlets it’s no different, with every child required to go through it in the hope of securing a place at their favoured destination.
We were approached by the local authority to make a film to help parents and their children get through it all. Taking them through the application process, what to look out for and what to avoid – anything that will help them best prepare their children for their next significant step on the education ladder. Shot in and around a variety of the local schools and featuring interviews with parents, teachers and the kids, here’s how it came out.
